Some of us have a certain fascination with unusual ways to make money. The first time I heard about an old couple that made money diamond hunting in parking lots, I knew there were more ways to make money than my scheming mind could imagine. At twelve I was pulling Playboy magazines out of the local newspaper recycling bin to sell for a dollar each in school. Before that I sold ammunition to both sides in my brother's paper-wad war. I still have a taste for the more unusual ways to make money.

Others are ways we have read about, like the man who finds treasure in vacuum cleaner dust. Then there are the things we've seen people doing to make money. Take Absolute Responsibility for Your Results!

"He made me angry."

"My divorce is really depressing me".

"My kids are driving me crazy."

"My unappreciative boss is driving me to a nervous breakdown".

The statements above have one thing in common; blaming others and not taking responsibility for one's state

As long as blame is cast outside ourselves, our states will be out
of our control. Most people allow their emotions to run their lives
which results in them feeling powerlessness and helplessness.

If you are upset, you are choosing to be upset. If you are excited,
you are choosing to be excited. Remember, no one can affect how you feel unless you allow them to. The moment you realize this, you can choose to feel differently.

For example, if you get fired unfairly, you can choose to feel
depressed and wallow in self-pity. You can also choose to be all
fired up making a success of yourself, letting your ex company
regret their decision in firing you!

In fact, some of the greatest companies in the world were built by
men who were motivated to get back at their ex-companies for firing them.

The most famous example is what Lee Iacocca did when Henry Ford 11 fired him (a personality clash). He simply left and joined a rival motor company (Chrysler), turned that ailing company into a direct rival and competitor of Ford.

Another example is the actions that Ivana Trump took when real
estate magnet Donald Trump dumped her for a younger woman. Instead of drowning her 'loss' with alcohol, anti depressants and wrecking her health, she made herself more glamorous publicly announcing to other wronged wives, "Don't get mad, get even!" and eventually proceeded to wrestling a mega settlement from him.

A point to take note off, taking absolute responsibility for
whatever happens does not mean blaming oneself. Taking
responsibility and blaming yourself is totally different. Some
people blame themselves for everything - and that is not a useful
pattern.

By blaming yourself, you beat yourself up only to find yourself
feeling helpless and depressed. "It's my fault that I'm so stupid,
I really screwed up again."

This is not what taking responsibility is all about. Taking
responsibility means acknowledging the fact that the choices you
made in the past have contributed to your present situation.
Instead of feeling bad, place yourself in a state of possibility by
putting the choice back in your own hands.

The key elements that drive our actions and results are the
emotional states we experience. When we feel excited and motivated, we are more likely to take action that will lead to great results. But when we are upset and depressed, we rarely make good decisions or do anything productive

Successful individuals choose to feel empowered and positive even in the most dire of circumstances. This is how they feel constantly motivated to improve their situation.

People who are in control of their lives believe they create their
world. If everything is going great, then they created it, not
anyone else. If things are not going well, then they created it as
well. From this moment onwards, start taking responsibility for
your feelings and results.

Holiday lessons to live by...

Some of you may recognize this message from last year... It received such a great response last Thanksgiving, that I thought we all could use a refresher (including me!). Enjoy your holiday season!

Holiday Lessons to Live By...

You may be aware that while I was growing up, my father was a Protestant minister. For years, I attended service three times per week and, like most kids, often just wanted it to "hurry up and get over with."

However, with my current understanding of the mind, I now know that while I sat in service and doodled, fidgeted or pestered my little brother, my unconscious mind was wide open and received many great teachings and truths.

One of those teachings came back to me in my meditation this morning, and I thought it was very appropriate for this week.

I remember my father saying almost yearly from his pulpit, "We need to not only practice Thanksgiving but 'Thanks Living'."

It's definitely no accident that a major portion of my teaching in The Secret is centered on gratitude. Likewise, I devoted an entire chapter to this technology (and I use that term intentionally) in my book The Science of Success.

While some who don't understand the power of energy, vibration and attraction may think that gratitude is not a big deal, I can promise you that:

Gratitude is the mother of creative vibrations.

You see, when you're grateful for what you currently have in your life, it focuses you on the best. And that puts you in a vibration (feeling) to attract and receive more of the best.

When you have a lack of gratitude in your life, you're focusing on the worst, and that puts you in a vibrational feeling that attracts to you more of the worst.

Life is a self-fulfilling prophecy and YOU are the prophet.

Now as you stop and think about this, it's very practical.

Think about the person who's constantly ungrateful and full of complaints and problems. Do you want to be around them... much less help them? Probably not.

Conversely, think of someone you know who's constantly grateful and appreciative in life. Same question: Do you want to be around them? Would you like to help this person if possible? Probably so.

The universe and all its inhabitants line up in support of the person who's in a vibration of gratitude.

Here's my recommendation as you move into the Holidays this year: Make the theme of the Holiday Season "giving thanks."

While eating turkey and watching football may be the norm around your household, sit down for a least a few minutes and have each family member (including you) list out loud at least 3 things that you're grateful for.

You'll be amazed at how positively this affects the energy in your household. Who knows... you may find it addictive, and you'll find yourself one step closer to "Thanks Living."

A quick method to make your first dollar online

the key for your first income stream...

I just published a review of a Web 2.0 Wealth
System to my blog, which is a video program Alex
Sysoef created that teaches how you can use blogs
to make money.

I have to give Alex full credit - his videos even
taught me something about how to make money from
blogging.

Personally I wouldn't use this method because I
have a different strategy with my blog, however
it's worth reviewing because I think this system
might appeal to some - possibly you.

Alex covers a lot in his program, but what I want
to talk about is the one main technique that I had
not heard of before. If you are an USA resident
and you have articles you are willing to have
published online at other sites, you can use this
technique to make your first dollar in no more
than seven days.

How?

It leverages a website called Associated Content [
http://www.associatedcontent.com ] that pays you a
between $3 and $20 per article you submit to them.
There is also a bonus system where you get paid
extra for the number of times your article is
displayed to readers.

Alex uses this site to make money for the content
he produces and then plugs the content stream (via
RSS) into his blog. By doing this he gets paid
once by AssociatedContent.com and then again by
reusing the content on his blog and generating
revenue from programs like Google's AdSense and
affiliate products.

It's like doing article marketing, except you get
paid for the content you distribute. Bear in mind
if you do publish your content on other sites as
well as on your blog, you won't be doing any
favors for your blog's search engine rankings.

You should look at this strategy as a means to
develop smaller income streams, so instead of
building one authority blog, you create lots of
niche blogs, plug them into AssociatedContent.com,
make a little money there and then reuse that
content to make more money.

If you are currently struggling to make money with
your blog but you have plenty of content, you
might like to sign up at AssociatedContent.com and
test their system out. It's only for USA
residents unfortunately though, so don't bother
if you are from somewhere else.

Like I said - this won't make you super-wealthy,
but I know for many people just making that first
few dollars online is very encouraging and
motivating. If you have no problem writing content

not using, this could be for you.

How to Profit From Affiliate Programmes

What Is An Affiliate Programme?

An affiliate Programme (also called associate, reseller or partnership program) is a revenue sharing system used by companies who market their products and services. The company you partner with has the products and services.

Affiliate Programmes let you sell products of popular online merchants from your web site and in return pays you a percentage of sales as commission. Usually anywhere between 10-20% of the sale.

There Are Different Types of Programmes:

1. Pay per sale: If you refer a visitor to the online merchant's site and if he/she makes a purchase you get a percentage of the sale as commission. Depending on the merchant, the commission may be just for that purchase or for all the purchases that customer makes in his life time, or all purchases that customer makes in a fixed period of time (usually 6 months to 1 year).

2. Bounty: You get a one-time bounty payment for the customer you referred. You will not get commission on any future purchases that customer makes.

3. Pay per click: You get paid for every visitor you send to the online merchant regardless of any sale or purchase. Usually companies pay £0.05 - £0.10 per click.

4. Two-tier: You get commission on direct sales you generate and also you get commission on sales generated by affiliates you recruited. Usually companies pay 15% commission for direct sales and 5% for sales generated by your affiliates.

5. Pay per lead: You get paid a one-time fee for generating a lead for the merchant. Usually you get paid £2-£5 if the visitor you referred fills out a questionnaire or application.

Joining an affiliate program is easy, and in most cases free. The advantage is that you get access to products from huge companies like the online bookstore Amazon.co.uk.

Tip: Start with 1 Programme. Get it running smoothly and then add another. I would advice 3 to 7 Programmes working for you if the Internet is a part-time business. If you do it full time, you could handle more. Just do not end up neglecting some of them because you took on too much too soon.

How often will you receive a commission check?

Do they use a reputable system to track your sales?

The Key to Selling An Affiliate Product

The key to selling an affiliate product is to have a lot of information on a specific subject and then relate your affiliate product to that. Build up trust by supplying useful information on your chosen subject so that the visitor will see that you are knowledgeable and your affiliate recommendations will appear much more attractive.

Suppose your web site is about Grand Prix racing. You can put recommended books on your site, or have a section where you list places people can write to order books about Grand Prix racing, auto sports, the history about Grand Prix Racing, etc...

Your visitors will buy those books (I hope for you) because they trust you, and you will earn a commission from every sale. This will be little bucks, but it gives your site credibility, and that is important! Do not forget to update your web site regularly.

Tip: If you have a bookstore at your site, check out other book selling sites and ask the web masters in charge if they would like to set up an affiliate page. If they do, link their site to yours and ask them to do the same. Every time people visit their sites, they will see your bookstore link, and that will result in more traffic and more sales!

Selling an item for £19.95 is as difficult as selling it for £49.95. Beware of companies that only have affiliate Programmes to get new customers for a low cost, paying unfair commissions. A trustful two tier affiliate program will pay you 15-45% in residual commissions.

Tip: Do not join too many affiliate Programmes. Join a couple and promote them as hard as you can. It will give you enough promoting and marketing work. If you splatter your affiliates all over your web site, your visitors will get confused, and click away from your site.

   research." No way! Do your research AFTER you have
   completed your activities.

Get out and meet the crowd. Millions go online every day
and they all have money in their pockets to spend. Where
other than to your site and order form should they go? :-)

10 Blog Traffic Tips

In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else's blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that's about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.

Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.

Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice. This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn't news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight. The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum. Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new. This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed.

You don't have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new. Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name. People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that's the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL. Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you've done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people's blogs. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger's article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it's sort of like your blog telling someone else's blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger. The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it's so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it's worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com. This is another tip that doesn't bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it's worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to Ezine Articles. Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter.

How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box". You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I've listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won't stay or bother to come back. Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.
